Big Cod appears to be the order of the day lately, off the South County wexford Beaches...
The average size Codling being recorded is between 3 to 4 pounds, a big increase from previous years. Cod up to 10lb have already been landed this month, for those determined enough to brave the elements.
Pictured (above) is Menapia SAC member Chris Downes with a fine 5lb Codling which fell to a 4/0 pennel loaded with Lugworm and tipped off with peeler crab.
Pictured below, is a very 'wet' fellow clubmember Frank Flanagan, with a 4lb fish. A 4/0 pennel loaded with Lugworm and tipped with a Mackrel strip was responsible for the hit on this occasion...

It has been difficult for Anglers to find windows in the weather lately - however those who continue to manage to dodge the winds & the weed, sees their efforts paying big dividends on the beach.
